What year did you start working at EH? I started at EH in August of 2000. Since that time I have worked in all three building at some point.
Why did you choose to join Eastern Hancock? I was offered a job to teach middle school special education at EHMS before I graduated from Ball State. Twenty years ago finding a job in teaching was more difficult than it is today. I accepted the position because I wanted to make sure that I was able to use the teaching degree that I had worked hard to earn.
Why have you stayed here? I was immediately accepted into the EH family (even though I graduated from Knightstown). Our staff is truly a family and wants what is best for each other. Our students and parents take great pride in being a Royal and are so supportive of the school. Students work hard each day, are eager to learn and are great kids. I can't imagine working anywhere else!
Describe your role at EH? In addition to scheduling, hiring staff, planning curriculum, handling discipline and the general day-to-day tasks of running the building, I get to spend my day working with the staff and students at EHES to make each school day the best that it can be.
What's the best part of your day working at Eastern Hancock? The students- hands down! They make each day worth the hard work. Their hugs, smiles and growth is the fuel that keeps me going.
What do you spend your time doing when you're not at work? I love watching my boys play sports. I also enjoy reading and boating with my family and our friends.
What makes you have #EHRoyalPride? Our community always comes together in difficult times and times of loss.
What else would you like to share about yourself, working at EH or our EH community? I have been married to my husband, Doug, for 21 years. He is a career firefighter at Fishers. We have two teenage sons. Caleb is 18 and is working towards his fire science degree at Ivy Tech, while working on an ambulance as an EMT. Connor is 17 and plays tennis and basketball.
